Entity optimization
Also known as: Entity SEO
Definition
Entity optimization is the work of making a business a clearly defined, consistently described entity that search and AI systems can recognize, disambiguate, and trust.
Search and AI systems reason about the world in terms of entities, which are distinct people, organizations, and things, rather than raw keywords. Entity optimization gives a firm a stable identity: a consistent name, description, location, specialties, and relationships, repeated the same way across the sites a model reads.
When the facts about a firm agree everywhere, an engine can confidently connect a query to that firm and state what it does. When they conflict, the engine hedges, blends the firm with a competitor, or leaves it out.
Structured data, authoritative profiles, and coherent on-site content all reinforce the entity. For professional firms competing on trust, being an unambiguous, well-described entity is often the difference between being recommended and being skipped.
